Aurora research. With support from DA2 and NESTA Luke Jerram spent a week at the Sodankyla Geophysical Observatory in Lapland with the curator and artist Nina Czeglady. Each night was spent outside studying and documenting the Aurora Borealis at temperatures 20°C below freezing. Scientists were interviewed about their methodologies and how the visualized the aurora. SMS poetry, photographs and video were produced during our residency. Their research was presented at the ESTEC space art conference at the ESA in 2004. Watch film of the aurora from their trip.
